1,436 new cases of COVID-19, 7 new COVID-19 deaths in Erie County; new weekly record set

SANDUSKY – From January 2 to January 8 in Erie County, there were 1,436 new cases of COVID-19, seven new COVID-19 deaths, and 80 new COVID-19 hospitalizations.

This is a new record of new weekly numbers for Erie County.

17,570 people have now tested positive for COVID-19 in Erie County.

268 people have now died from COVID-19 in Erie County.

59 people are currently being treated for COVID-19 at Firelands Regional Medical Center. 39 of those people are unvaccinated. 1,518 people have now been hospitalized for COVID-19 in Erie County.

44,705 or 60.20% of people in Erie County have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. 41,977 or 56.25% of people in Erie County have now been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. 21,687 people in Erie County have also received their COVID-19 booster shot.
