Huron Board of Education names new interim superintendent

HURON – The Huron Board of Education voted Sunday to appoint Dr. Julie McDonald as interim superintendent for Huron City Schools.

McDonald has served Huron’s Director of Curriculum and Instruction since 2018. She previously served as the Chief Academic Officer for Sandusky City Schools. She holds a Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate in Education from Bowling Green State University.

McDonald replaces John Ruf, who resigned last week. He had served as interim superintendent since July 2021. His last day will be Tuesday, February 22.

McDonald will serve as Huron City Schools’ Interim Superintendent through the remainder of the 2021-22 academic year.

The Huron Board of Education has hired the Ohio School Board Association to conduct the search for a permanent superintendent. On Monday, March 7, focus groups will be held so the OSBA can receive community and staff input.
