Huron’s Max Wasiniak wins second diving state championship

CANTON – Huron’s Max Wasiniak is Ohio’s Boys Division II State Champion for diving for the second year in a row.

Wasiniak, a senior, finished with a score of 485.90 points on Monday at the OHSAA State Swimming and Diving Championship. Last season, he finished with a score of 427.65 points.

The runner-up champion was Cameron Bizjak from Hunting Valley University School. Bizjak, also a senior, finished with a score of 451.20 points.

Wasiniak was not the lone Tiger diver at the championship meet. Freshman Peter Cencer finished 17th with a score of 213.25 points.

Two divers from Perkins were also at the championship. Junior Tre Leber finished 15th with a score of 285.45 points, and Sophomore Kennedy Schnittker finished 12th in the girls championship with a score of 323.55 points.

The diving events were held on the first day of the state championship, which goes from Tuesday, February 21 to Saturday, February 25.
