Dixie Cruz

Dixie Lee (Rickard) Cruz, 75, residing in Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, September 27, 2022 at Providence Care Center.

Dixie was born on August 28, 1947 in Sandusky, OH to the late Wilbert “Sonny” and Blanche Jean (Holeton) Rickard.

Dixie loved her coffee, cooking for family, especially at her favorite holiday, Thanksgiving. She was one of a kind, always happy and loved spending time with her family.

Dixie is survived by her granddaughter, Emmah Smith; nephews, Terry (Norma) Rickard and Paul Rickard; son-in-law, Kevin Smith and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Dixie is preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester “Shorty” Cruz; daughters, Denise “Nikki” Cruz and Jean Cruz-Smith; 2 brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 11:00 am at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Pastor Dave Brown will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
