Two charged with stealing $1,500 in merchandise from Kohl’s

SANDUSKY – Two individuals were arrested and charged following a June 21 incident where they allegedly stole $1,500 in merchandise from the Kohl’s location at Crossings of Sandusky.

According to a report from the Perkins Township Police Department, the incident started when police were at Kohl’s for an unrelated issue and noticed Heather Ashley and Terry Sellers, who both had active warrants. Police then went over and arrested them.

When police were arresting Ashley, according to the report, they saw multiple retail tags protruding from her purse. When asked about the tags, the report states Ashley responded by saying that her nieces went swimming and her clothing got wet, so she took the items and placed them in her purse. The report states that police located more items in a Kohl’s bag near where Ashley was sitting in a car.

The report states that Ashley and Sellers were found to have stolen 51 items, which were worth a total of $1500.56.

Along with being arrested for their warrants, Ashley and Sellers each charged with theft, a fifth-degree felony. Both have entered pleas of not guilty in Sandusky Municipal Court.
