Sandusky police report increase in vehicle entries, thefts

SANDUSKY – Following an increase in vehicle entries and thefts, the Sandusky Police Department is reminding the public to take their keys out of their cars and to lock their cars when they are left unattended.

Over the past few weeks, according to police, several vehicles with keys left inside of them were stolen. All of the vehicles were eventually found somewhere else in the city of Sandusky or neighboring areas.

Police say that a group of suspects has been identified in connection to these vehicle thefts. A male juvenile was arrested early last week and charged in relation to two of the thefts. An adult male and two other male juveniles were arrested Saturday morning. All three are expected to face charges in relation to multiple stolen vehicles and thefts from other vehicles. Police say that other suspects have been identified as well.

To prevent being a victim of vehicle theft, police recommend locking your car at night. They say it is very rare for a thief to break a window, due to them trying to avoid making noise.
