Rolland Fitz

Rolland “Guy” A. Fitz, 88, residing in Sandusky, passed away Sunday morning, April 17, 2022 at Firelands Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

Guy was born on March 13, 1934 at home in Venice (Sandusky) OH to the late Edward and Elizabeth (Radar) Fitz.

Guy graduated from Margaretta High School in 1952, where he was active in basketball and football, receiving 7 varsity letters. He was a Veteran of the US Army and proudly served his country from 1956 to 1958. He was a lifelong farmer on the Fitz Dairy Farm in Margaretta Township, with his father and brother, Paul. Guy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed going to church and spending time with his family. His passion in life was to work and putz around the farm doing odd jobs.

Guy is survived by his sisters, Marge (Jim) Crecilius of Milan and Nancy Fitz of Sandusky and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Guy is preceded in death by his siblings, Dell (Claudine) Fitz, Elizabeth (William) Spencer, Jean (Oscar) Mapus, Alice (Richard) Davie and Paul (Agnes) Fitz.

Friends may call on Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 9:00 am until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. Father Monte Hoyles will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
