Woman hospitalized, charged after she allegedly caused crash while impaired

SANDUSKY – Brittany Maldonado, 36, of Sandusky, was charged Friday after she alleged caused a roll-over accident in which she was hospitalized.

According to report from the Sandusky Police Department, the crash occurred when Maldonado was traveling southbound on Milan Road and hit a parked car. Maldonado’s vehicle, according to the report, continued southbound, overturned, and came to rest on its driver side.

Sandusky Fire was called to rescue Maldonado. They had to extract her from her vehicle by cutting the car. After they rescued her, according to the report, they told police that she smelt like alcohol and marijuana.

According to the report, at the hospital, Maldonado admitted to police to smoking marijuana that evening and having several drinks at the bar she was coming from.

Maldonado was charged with OVI (M1) and Failure to Control (MM).
