Rockin’ Horse Saloon Cited for COVID-19 Health Order Violations

The Ohio Investigative Unit charged eight bars this week after they were observed violating COVID-19 health orders.

The only Erie County bar that was cited was Rockin’ Horse Saloon in Huron Township. They received a citation for improper conduct – disorderly activity and permit not posted. Agents working jointly with the Erie County Sheriff’s Office said they observed numerous violations upon entry, including patrons standing and walking freely while consuming alcoholic beverages, congregating and moving between separate groups, and every seat at the bar was occupied with no social distancing barriers in place. 

Another area bar, Eddie’s Club in Elyria was also cited. They received a citation for improper conduct – disorderly activity and after hours consumption. At 12:15 a.m., agents said they discovered approximately 60 patrons inside and widespread consumption of alcoholic beverages. In addition, agents found egregious violations of the health orders, including congregating throughout the establishment, standing and walking freely while consuming alcoholic beverages, no physical barriers seating and the bar area, and no social distancing measures in place.

The other bars that were, Barley House in Cleveland received a citation for improper conduct disorderly activity, Belmont Brewerks in Martins Ferry received a citation for after hours consumption, Strongsville Café in Strongsville, received a citation for improper conduct – disorderly activity and after hours consumption, Sky Mediterranean in Parma Heights received a citation for improper conduct – disorderly activity, after hours sale, Arabica/Dance.com in Parma Heights received a citation improper conduct – disorderly activity, and Dexter’s Bar in Maumee received a citation for after hours sale, after hours consumption, and improper conduct – disorderly activities.

The cases will go before the Ohio Liquor Control Commission for potential penalties, including fines and/or the suspension or revocation of liquor permits.
