Bodycam video shows deputy confronting Enderle about stealing political signs

HURON – Through a public records request, Huron Insider has obtained the bodycam footage and 911 call from the incident where Huron Township Trustee Ed Enderle is caught allegedly stealing other candidates’ signs.

In the 911 call, the complainant says that she caught Enderle stealing her signs for Huron Township Trustee candidate Eddie Wimmer, the Perkins Township Fire Department levy, and the Perkins Police Department Levy.

In the bodycam video, Enderle tells the Erie County Sheriff deputy that he removed the signs from several yards because they were in the right-of-way. Enderle says that he called Wimmer two weeks before to tell him to move his signs, but Wimmer did not move them. The deputy tells Enderle that he should have reported the signs to the Erie County Board of Elections, instead of just taking them out of the yards himself. Enderle responds by saying, “I don’t know if the Board of Elections likes to be bothered with signs.”

The deputy has Enderle open up his trunk, where he put the signs. In the trunk, there are six signs for Wimmer, two signs for the Perkins Police levy, one sign for Perkins Board of Education candidate W. Lee Willis IV, and one sign for Huron Board of Education candidate Stacy Hinners.
