Huron community remembers Chris and Owen Kedas

HURON – Many members of the Huron community came to Faben’s Park Monday evening to remember Chris and Owen Kedas.

Chris, 45, and Owen, 11, died in a boating accident near Cleveland on June 23.

At the ceremony, Owen’s teammates Paul Murray and Colin Dillard spoke. Murray recited a poem, and Dillard led the group in prayer. A tree was also dedicated to Chris and Owen. Each player and coach from Owen’s baseball team dumped some water on the tree, which is located by the baseball fields where Owen used to play. The ceremony ended with the team giving a group hug to Chris’s wife and Owen’s mom.

Coach Tim Roth, who led the ceremony, said, “Chris and Owen’s passing was a tragedy that has had an immense effect on our small town community.”

After the ceremony, Huron’s Armstrong Drive Thru team, Owen’s team, beat the Willard Clemson Flashes team, 12-3.
