Gary Cook

Gary L. Cook, 82, passed away on Thursday May 27, 2021, due to health complications following heart surgery.  He was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1939.  After graduating from Lutheran High School, he attended Bowling Green State University where he met his wife, Pat.  Gary graduated from Bowling Green with a Bachelor of Science degree.  He spent the majority of his career at Ford Motor Company in Sandusky where he worked in personnel for 30 plus years.  In his younger years, Gary was active in the Huron Community including his involvement in the Huron Jaycees. In 1973 he was named Huron Young Man of the Year for his work as Chairman of the Huron Water Festival for two years.

Gary will be missed by his wife Pat, of 57 years; children, Trina (Yoshi) Atlanta, GA, Dawn (Dave) Philadelphia, PA, and Gary Todd Cook (Carla) Atlanta, GA.  He had five grandchildren, Nathan, Mina, Connor Wesley and Hunter. Gary’s youngest brother Dennis (Linda) resides in Easley, SC. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Bob (Cindy).

In his retirement years Gary enjoyed his family and friends, traveling, playing golf, and summers in Lakeside.  He especially enjoyed The Lakeside Symphony Orchestra.  He was a member of Wesley Memorial UMC in Chattanooga, Tennessee where they resided in the winter months.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Gary’s memory be made to either of his favorite organizations:  St Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Lakeside Symphony Orchestra.

Gary’s Memorial Service will be held at the Memorial Garden in Lakeside, OH, Sunday, July 11, 2021 at 12:30 PM.  There will be a luncheon following.
