Huron lime plant to be imploded

HURON – After sitting mostly vacant for years, the former lime plant on Meeker Street in Huron will be imploded.

The plant, which was operated by Carmeuse, shuttered most operations in 2018. Since then, materials from the plant have been moved off the property.

On Friday, April 12, 2024, at 10:00AM, the plant will finally be imploded.

The land is owned by Norfolk Southern, which owns other nearby properties, including several railway tracks and Nickel Plate Beach.
