Man killed after car goes off road, becomes engulfed in flames

BELLEVUE – A 46-year-old man was killed Friday evening after his car went off the side of State Route 4 and became engulfed in flames.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when Randy L. Ulery Jr., 46, of Bellevue, was driving a red 2014 Kia Soul southbound on State Route 4, near milepost 5 in Groton Township. Ulery drove off the right side of the roadway and struck two trees and a tree stump. Fire then fully engulfed the Kia Soul.

The Patrol says Ulery was trapped inside the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. He was mechanically extricated from the vehicle. His safety belt use is unknown at this time.

According to the Patrol, it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were contributing factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
