Man charged with punching 16-year-old

HURON – A 47-year-old man has been charged with punching a 16-year-old juvenile in the face, causing serious injuries.

According to a report from the Huron Police Department, the incident started in the early morning of Monday, February 19, when police responded to a Wexford Drive house for a report that a juvenile was assaulted with a possible broken nose.

The report states that when police first arrived a juvenile witness said that when he and a group of his friends were turning around in a random driveway, the homeowner came out, blocked their truck, and assaulted his friend who was driving.

According to the report, police then spoke to the injured juvenile, whose nose was discolored, bruised, swollen, and bleeding. The report states that the injured juvenile claimed he and his friends were ding-dong ditching a friend’s house on Wexford Drive and turned around in a random driveway when the homeowner, Alexei Turovskiy, came outside and began opening all of the truck’s doors. The juvenile said that when he opened his door, he reached into the vehicle, pulled the key out of the ignition, demanded his driver’s license, and when he refused, Turovskiy punched him in the nose twice, the report states.

When police spoke to Turovskiy, according to the report, he claimed the incident started when his wife and he were woken up by juveniles running through their backyard. He claimed that he went outside, blocked the truck off with trash cans, and asked for the driver’s license. He said that when the juvenile driver refused to give his license, he reached inside the truck and removed the keys, which resulted in the driver exiting the truck. The report states that Turovskiy then said he defended himself.

The injured juvenile was taken to the hospital, where he was found to have fractures to his nasal bone, the police report states.

Turovskiy was charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony.
