Cedar Fair, Six Flags reportedly exploring merger

SANDUSKY – Cedar Point’s parent company is reportedly exploring a merger with Six Flags.

Reuters and the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday that sources stated that Cedar Fair and Six Flags are nearing a merger announcement.

A merger announcement reportedly may come during Cedar Fair’s quarterly earnings report on Thursday morning.

Sandusky-based Cedar Fair operates 13 properties, while Arlington, Texas-based Six Flags operates 27 properties.

In 2019, Six Flags offered to purchase Cedar Fair for $4 billion; however, the offer was turned down. In 2022, SeaWorld Entertainment made an offer to purchase Cedar Fair, but that offer was also turned down.
