SeaWorld makes bid for Cedar Fair

SANDUSKY – Cedar Fair says they are reviewing an unsolicited offer from SeaWorld Entertainment.

According to Bloomberg, the deal is worth around $3.4 billion.

Cedar Fair confirmed in a press release that their board of directors is reviewing the offer and will take the action that “it believes is in the best interest of the Company and its unitholders.”

Sandusky-based Cedar Fair owns and operates 13 amusement properties. The company was founded in 1983, after Cedar Point, which opened in 1870, acquired Minnesota’s Valleyfair. The company went public on April 29, 1987.

Orlando-based SeaWorld Entertainment operates 12 theme parks. The company began with the opening of the Busch Gardens park in Tampa, Florida in 1959. The company went public in 2013.
