National Weather Service confirms tornado touchdown in Vermilion Township

VERMILION – The National Weather Service in Cleveland has confirmed that a tornado struck in Vermilion Township during Thursday night’s storm.

The National Weather Service ranked the tornado as an EF-1 as it had peak winds of 90 miles per hour. The tornado lasted from 11:47PM to 11:48PM and had a path of 0.29 miles.

No injuries or deaths were reported as a result of the tornado. It did, however, uproot trees and broke off several large tree limbs. Several limbs fell onto homes, and one large limb partially destroyed a home near the Mari-Dor Beach Cottages.

The tornado was tracked southeast into a rural area.
