One killed after collision with semi on Route 20

CLYDE – One man was killed Friday morning after his car and a semi-truck collided on U.S. Route 20 in Green Creek Township, Sandusky County.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when a blue 2012 Kenworth T6 Series semi-truck, driven by John G. Ketteman Jr, 56, of Britton, Michigan, was stopped in a gas station parking and attempting to turn left onto Route 20. At the same time, a 2011 dark green Toyota Camry, driven by Donald M. Eckel, 74, of Pemberville, was driving eastbound in the right lane.

According to the Highway Patrol, Ketteman pulled into the path of Eckel when the crash occurred.

Eckel sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision.

Ketteman was not injured in the crash.

The Highway Patrol is currently investigating the crash, but says alcohol and drug impairment do not appear to be factors.
