Cedar Point looking to hire 7,000 for upcoming season, lowers starting wage to $14/hour

SANDUSKY – Cedar Point announced Tuesday that it plans to hire 7,000 seasonal associates for the 2023 season.

The amusement park says they plan on filling most of the positions during a weeklong series of in-person job events. On February 18 and 19, a Cedar Point Job Fair will be held at Sawmill Creek. From February 21 to February 23, informational tables will be at Edison High School, EHOVE Career Center, and Perkins High School. Then, on February 24, Cedar Point Recruiting Center will hold same-day interviews and offers.

Positions looking to be filled include ride operators, food and beverage, lifeguards and aquatics, and security.

“From young adults to retirees, there are jobs for every interest and skill level, and the intangible benefits of cultivating new relationships, memories and friends are immeasurable,” said Carrie Boldman, vice president and general manager of Cedar Point.

Hourly pay ranges from $14 – $17 for those 16 years of age or older and is based on experience, prior service, and position. Employees are also offered other benefits, including free admission to any Cedar Fair park.

The $14 per hour starting wage is lower than in recent seasons. After closing for select days due to a shortage of employees during the 2021 season, the starting wage was raised to $20 per hour. For the 2021 season, the starting wage was lowered to $15 per hour.

Cedar Point’s Opening Day is Saturday, May 6, 2023.
