Edison wins 11th straight Firelands Challenge championship

MILAN – The Edison Chargers are the 2022-23 Firelands Challenge Champions.

Edison finished well ahead of their opponents, the Danbury Lakers and Perkins Pirates, at Tuesday’s championship match. They finished with a match score of 54 and a cumulative total of 155. Danbury finished second with a match score of 30 and a cumulative score of 95. Perkins finished with a match score of 27 and a total score of 91.

The Chargers were in the lead for most of the match, beginning with correctly answering two questions in the first question category, current events. However, they briefly fell behind the Pirates after missing a vocabulary question. Edison would take back and keep their lead following the Life Science category.

The Lakers and Pirates remained close throughout the match.

After winning, Edison team members received a plaque and a standing ovation from fellow students and relatives.

This is the Chargers’ 11th straight Championship win and 28th overall win.

Before Thursday’s varsity Boys Basketball game between the Chargers and the Willard Crimson Flashes, the Firelands Challenge team will be honored for their achievement.
