Florence Chase

Florence Eleanor (Simmons) Chase, 80, of Huron, passed away Friday, Nov. 25, 2022, at home after a lengthy illness.

She was born Sept. 22, 1942, in Ellwood City, PA, to the late Goldie (McIntyre) Simmons and Andrew Simmons (Szymoniak).

Florence graduated from Strong Vincent High School in Erie, Pa, in 1960 and later from Erie Business College in 1962. She was a licensed realtor with Realty Executives for many years.

Florence married Theodore Chase in 1967, and together they relocated to Huron. She was devoted to her family and especially her grandchildren. She and Ted traveled extensively in retirement, most often aboard a cruise ship. An active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Huron, she served as a Stephen Minister, providing care for people during times of need. She could light up a room with her smile and sense of humor. She cared deeply for others and loved volunteering at the Christ Community Meal in Huron and Second Harvest in Lorain.

Florence is survived by her husband of 55 years, Theodore Chase; children Kimberly (Russell) Brennan of Huron; Theodore (Shelly) Chase of Vermilion; Juliana (Michael) Morefield of Huron and Dustin (Manette) Chase of Westerville; grandchildren, Amy Edwards, Christie (Frank) Butler, Matthew and Joseph Brennan, Brendan, Everett and Elena Chase and Graeme and Avery Morefield; 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly Fisher of Erie, PA; brother Jerry (Nancy) Simmons of Northeast, PA; and numerous beloved brothers & sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Violet Rockwell.

Open visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 2, 2022, from 6-8 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home & Crematory, 410 Main St., Huron. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 930 Main St., Huron officiated by Pastor Kris Schroeder with burial at Scott Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the church
