Richard Ward

Richard James Ward, 74, residing in Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning, November 23, 2022 from an automobile accident.

Richard was born on February 27, 1948 in Sandusky, OH to the late Richard Harry and Rita Jane (Parker) Ward.

Richard graduated from Sandusky High School. He retired as a mechanic from Castalia Trenching & Ready Mix in 2008 after 32 years of service, and had previously worked with his father at Rich Ward Inc. Used Car Dealership. Richard was a lifetime member of the Boy Scouts of America, earning the top honor the Silver Beaver Award and stayed active for many years. He enjoyed racing, and had raced at the Sandusky Speedway. He was also very involved with his son, Roger, racing at the Summit Motorsports Park. Richard also enjoyed camping, his granddaughter, Julieanne “Val” and all her activities, he loved the holidays and spending time with his family and friends.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Jodie (Ward) Fox of Sandusky; granddaughter, Julieanne “Val” Fox of Sandusky; sisters, Pam (Don) Keck of Columbus, Cathy (Rick) Morgan of FL and Debra (Leo) Conner of GA and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Glenda (Jordan) Ward; his son, Roger and sister-in-law, Sylvia “Jean” Sizemore.

Friends may call on Friday, December 2, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Memorial services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 10:00 am. Pastor Ken Hiser will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
