TIFFIN – Both the Huron Tiger boys and girls cross country teams won the SBC Bay Division titles on Saturday.

The girls team was led by senior Kennedy Schlessman, who finished the race in first place with a time of 18:36.2. Last season, Schlessman finished first in the race with a time of 19:08.

Behind Schlessman was Edison sophomore Grace Anderson, Port Clinton freshman Morgan Wiechman, and Huron junior Jadyn Towns. They had respective times of 18:50.7, 19:26.7, and 20:08.2.

Wrapping up the Huron girls’ top seven were junior Lucy Watson, with a time of 21:39.5; sophomore Samantha Lesnak, with a time of 22:03.6; freshman Liz Heidl, with a time of 22:36.8; senior Allison Blevins, with a time of 22:56.2; and freshman Olivia Kohlmann, with a time of 23:10.0.

Edison finished runner-up to Huron with 55 points. Huron, in comparison, had 44 points.

Over on the boys side, Vermilion’s Joseph Webb ended up crossing the finish line first in the Bay Division race with a time of 12:01.4; however, he was not named the winner of the race due to Vermilion not being part of the Bay Division and only running in the race due to them missing their Lake Division race. Edison’s Kellen McDonnell ended up being named the Bay Division with a time of 17:11.9.

The Huron boys top seven finished as follows: senior Tyler Kohlmann, with a time of 17:53.6; freshman Sage Edgerly-Bork, with a time of 18:02.2; sophomore Jake Case, with a time of 18:47.8; junior Nathan Hinners, with a time of 18:51.5; sophomore Carter Schlessman, with a time of 19:00.2; junior Ryan Sas, with a time of 19:02.0; and sophomore Beren Dennis, with a time of 19:12.7.
