Michael Porter

Michael Eugene Porter, 67, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 11, 2022 with his family at his side in the Cleveland Clinic ICU, after fighting a courageous battle.

He was born on March 15, 1955 in Gallia County, the eldest son of Waldo and Carolyn Porter.

Michael graduated from Sandusky High School and for over the last 27 years owned and operated his own business, MPort Home Improvement. He enjoyed playing softball, hunting, fishing and bonfires with friends and family. But he found ultimate enjoyment in spending time with his grandchildren, going to all their sporting events and watching them grow.

Michael is survived by his wife, Linda Porter, whom he married on March 29, 1996; his parents; his five children, Bryan (Alison) Porter, Matthew (Tori) Porter, Michelle (Bob) Hutchinson, Sieara (Brandon) Joiner and Devin (Dee) Schwanger; eleven grandchildren, Morgan (Tony) Yourkvitch, Cameron, Hunter and Savannah Porter, Bob and Mckenzie Hutchinson, Jace and Jocelyn Joiner and Envy, Jalen and Amiyah Reed; two great-grandchildren, Alvin and Lucille Yourkvitch; brothers, Ronnie (Cindy) and Jeff (Beth) Porter; sisters-in-law, Debbie and Sherry Porter; nephews, Michael, Jason and Kyler; nieces, Samantha, Maria, Kim, Sarah and Katie along with many great nephews, nieces and cousins.

Michael is preceded in death by his brothers, James “Red” and Keith Porter; father-in-law, Nergil Lawson; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Patty and Tony Marinucci; grandparents, Earl and Gustie Angell and William and Edith Porter and numerous aunts and uncles.

Friends may call on Sunday, August 21, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Faith Church, 1320 E. Strub Rd., Sandusky. Funeral services will be held in the church on Monday, August 22, 2022 at 11:00 am. Pastor Ken Hiser will officiate. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. **Family is requesting that anyone who approaches Waldo and Carolyn Porter at the showing or services please wear a mask.
