Local highway construction for the week of August 8

Here is a look at construction projects that are anticipated by the Ohio Department of Transportation to impact highways in Erie, Huron, Lorain, Ottawa, Sandusky, and Seneca counties on the week of August 8.

Erie County

SR 2, from Berlin Road to SR 4, will have shoulder closures for bridge painting and repairs. Crews are working at various structures throughout the project limits to complete concrete patching and repair work.

SR 2 will have lane closures for bridge painting at the following locations:

  • The SR 4 bridge over SR 2
  • The Galloway Road bridge over SR 2

One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction on SR 2. There will be no lane closures or impacts on the structures over SR 2.

Estimated completion of entire project: October 2022

State Route 113 westbound, just west of U.S. 250, will have single lane closures for a slope repair project. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction. The contractor will be installing a drilled shaft retaining wall to repair the slope on the north side of SR 113. Estimated completion: September 2022

Huron County

U.S. 20 along the Norwalk Bypass, from SR 99 to Cleveland Road, will have single lane closures as needed for bridge painting at structures along the bypass. Estimated completion: October 2022

Lorain County

Boone Road, between State Route 82 and Snell Road, is closed for a Lorain County Sanitary Sewer Project. The detour route will be SR 82 west to SR 252 north to Snell Road east, and reverse. Estimated completion: To be announced

U.S. 6 (Lake Road) in the city of Sheffield Lake, from Root Road to Mille Road, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: August 2022

U.S. 6 in the city of Vermilion, from approximately Berkley Road to Baumhart Road, will have lane closures for a pavement repairs and resurfacing project. Crews will begin work in the outside and one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained in the inside lanes. Estimated completion: June 2023

SR 10, between U.S. 20 and I-480, will have eastbound and westbound lane closures for a resurfacing project. At least one lane in each direction will be maintained. Estimated completion: October 2022

U.S. 20, from SR 10 to Chestnut Ridge Road, will have eastbound and westbound single lane closures for a resurfacing project. At least one lane in each direction will be maintained and there are no lane width restrictions. Estimated completion: October 2022

State Route 57, between Glendalough Avenue and SR 82, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. An 11’ lane width will be maintained. Estimated completion: August 2022

State Route 57 northbound and southbound, between SR 82 and SR 10/U.S. 20, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained in the adjacent lane. An 11’ lane width will be maintained. Estimated completion of entire project: August 2022

State Route 57 in the village of Grafton, from Mechanic Street to Novak Road, will have periodic lane closures as needed for a streetscape project. Project work includes the realignment of Parsons Road and streetscape work including sidewalk installation, curb bump outs, and pedestrian facilities. Traffic will be maintained with temporary traffic lights or flaggers. Estimated completion of project: October 2022

Parsons Road, between Indian Hollow Road and State Route 57, will close Monday, August 8 for a pavement replacement project. Local traffic ONLY will be maintained. The detour route for eastbound motorists will be Parsons Road to Indian Hollow Road, south on Indian Hollow Road to SR 303, east on SR 303 to Chamberland Road, north on Chamberland Road to SR 57, and reverse for westbound motorists. Estimated completion: Saturday, August 20, 2022

County Road 78 (Moore Road) in the city of Avon Lake, from just south of Walker Road to the city of Avon Lake’s southern corporation limits, will have one lane of traffic for a minor resurfacing project. Estimated completion of project: October 2022

CR 78 (Moore Road) is open to southbound traffic only. Northbound traffic will be detoured from Moore Road to Pin Oak Parkway east to SR 83 north to Walker Road. Estimated completion of this portion: September 2022

County Road 78 (Moore Road) in the city of Avon, from Chester Road to the city of Avon’s northern corporation limit, will have lane closures for a minor rehab project. Crews will begin milling and pavement repairs. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers during construction operations. Estimated completion: September 2022

State Route 83, from SR 57 (Grafton Eastern Road) to the city of North Ridgeville’s southern corporation limits, will have lane closures for a resurfacing project. Estimated completion: August 2022

State Route 83 in the city of Avon Lake, between Carriage Lane and Electric Boulevard, is closed for a bridge replacement project at Heider Creek. The detour route for northbound motorists will be SR 83 to I-90, west on I-90 to SR 611, west on SR 611 to SR 301, north on SR 301 to U.S. 6, east on U.S. 6 to SR 83, and reverse for southbound motorists. Estimated completion: Friday, September 30, 2022 (Estimated completion of entire project: October 2022)

I-90 eastbound and westbound at the structures over the railroad tracks, between French Creek Road and SR 611 (Colorado Avenue), will have lane closures for a bridge reconstruction project. Traffic will be maintained with barrels and portable concrete barriers. Traffic will be maintained in 11’ lanes eastbound and westbound. Speed limits will be established at 55 mph for areas with barrier wall and 50 mph for areas with barrels when workers are present. Estimated completion: May 2023

State Route 162, between Clark Road and SR 58, will close Monday, August 8 for a culvert replacement. The detour route for eastbound motorists will be SR 162 to SR 511, south on SR 511 to U.S. 224, east on U.S. 224 to SR 58, north on SR 58 to SR 162, and reverse for westbound motorists. Estimated completion: Friday, August 12, 2022

Ottawa County

State Route 2, between SR 358 and SR 163 (east of Port Clinton), will experience lane restrictions for resurfacing through August.

State Route 2, over Cedar Creek between Teachout Rd. and Donovan Rd., Jerusalem Twp., work is complete.

Sandusky County

U.S. Route 6, between CR 128 and Brush St., will experience lane restrictions for US 6/US 20/State St. ramp realignment. Lane widths will be reduced to 11′ in various locations in each direction.

Eastbound US 20 ramp to westbound/southbound US 6 is closed for reconstruction through mid-August. Detour: State St. to Oak Harbor Rd. to westbound US 6/20 to southbound SR 53.

State Route 19, between TR 127 and TR 83, Fremont, will be closed for two culvert replacements beginning Monday, June 6 through early August. Detour: US 20 to SR 590 to SR 105.

Seneca County

U.S. Route 224 at State Route 587, New Riegel, is closed for roundabout construction through August. U.S. 224 Detour: US 23 to SR 18 to US 224. SR 587 Detour: SR 53 to SR 18.

US 224 will be closed between S. Twp. Rd. 109 and Twp. Rd. 113, within the active closure, for three culvert replacements beginning Monday, July 18 through Friday, July 29.

State Route 100, between County Road 58 and Riverside Dr., Tiffin, will experience lane restrictions for resurfacing through mid-July.
