Man allegedly shoots at girlfriend after she refuses to go fishing with him

SANDUSKY – A 23-year-old man was charged with multiple felonies after he allegedly shot at his girlfriend after she refused to go fishing with him on his birthday.

According to a report from the Sandusky Police Department, police responded to the Forest Drive apartment on July 20 for a report of a man firing shots in the residence.

When police arrived, according to the report, they spoke to a woman who said she was Malik Pentorn’s live-in girlfriend. She claimed that the incident started because Pentorn wanted to go fishing on his birthday and no one wanted to go with him, the report states.

She told police, according to the report, that when he asked her if she could go, she told him that she was unable to because she was cooking. She claimed, according to the report, that he then threw the pan she was cooking with into the garbage and told her “leave or I will shoot you.” According to the report, she said that when she went up to her bedroom to grab her belongings, he fired multiple shots at her.

The report states that police located multiple gunshot holes in the walls and shell-casings, the report states.

Malik was charged with domestic violence (F4), felonious assault (F2), aggravated menacing (M1), improper discharge of a firearm into a habitation (F2), threat of domestic violence (M2), and three counts of having weapons while under disability (F3). The domestic violence charge was enchanted to a felony due to Pentorn having a previous domestic violence conviction from 2018. The improper discharge of a firearm into a habitation charge was added due to their being three adjacent apartments from the one Pentorn is accused of shooting in. The charges of having weapons while under disability come from Pentorn not legally being eligible to carry a firearm in the state of Ohio, due to a felonious assault case from 2013, when Pentorn was only nine.

Pentorn was arrested on Monday, July 25. He is currently being held in the Erie County Jail.
