Sandusky City Schools to require face coverings for students

SANDUSKY – When Sandusky City Schools students go to school on Monday, September 13, they will be required to wear a face covering.

Sandusky City Schools announced Saturday that all students will be required to wear face coverings while in the district’s buildings. The district says that the decision was made to keep five-day face-to-face learning for all grades, minimize quarantines, and ensure that students receive the best educational opportunities.

Dr. Eugene Sanders, CEO and superintendent of Sandusky City Schools, said, “After reviewing COVID-19 trends, it is clear that requiring face coverings for students, along with employees, is the best course of action to keep everyone safe. We will continue to review trends, data, and district requirements throughout the course of this year. We appreciate the entire Blue Streak Family as they remain flexible throughout these transitions.”

Face coverings have been required for Sandusky City Schools staff since September 7. Sandusky High School and Sandusky Middle School went virtual for the week of August 30, due to a rise in COVID-19 cases.
