Sandusky City Schools to return to in-person for 7-12, require face coverings for staff

SANDUSKY – After being virtual for a week, Sandusky High School and Sandusky Middle School will return to in-person learning on Tuesday, September 7.

The schools went virtual due to a rise in COVID-19 cases at Sandusky High School.

Also starting Tuesday, Sandusky City Schools will be requiring face coverings for staff. The district says that the decision was made because of a recommendation from Erie County Health Commissioner Peter Schade.

Masks will not be required for students; however, they will be “strongly recommended.”

“Our message is clear, protect yourself and your fellow blue streaks,” said Sandusky City Schools CEO and Superintendent Dr. Eugene Sanders. “Our goal is to maintain face-to-face learning 5 days a week. Face-to-face learning is the most powerful instructional tool for students and this is what we need to do to make that happen.”
