Teen baseball player arrested for allegedly assaulting his coach’s son

SANDUSKY – A 16-year-old was arrested and charged with a felony Thursday morning after he allegedly assaulted his coach’s son during a baseball game at SportsForce Parks.

According to a report from the Sandusky Police Department, several witnesses told police that the incident started when the player was arguing with and actively trying to fight players from the other team and his coach pulled him into the dugout. The witness claimed, according to the report, that soon after the coach pulled him in, the player struck the coach’s son in the face.

According to the report, the coach’s son had a cut on his right cheek and inside of his mouth on his lower lip; as a result, he received four stitches to his right cheek and two stitches on his lip.

The player, according to the report, admitted to police that he did strike his coach’s son, who is not a member of the team. He said that he did it because he was already angry that his coach had pulled him into the dugout and then his son was following him around and asking him what was his problem.

The 16-year-old player, who resides in Michigan, was charged with one count of felonious assault, a second-degree felony.

The report states that the player’s father attempted to have his son’s coach charged with a crime. He claimed, according to the report, the coach had grabbed his son and pinned him against the dugout wall; however, police did not notice any injuries on the player.
