Sandusky man arrested for allegedly producing counterfeit payroll checks

SANDUSKY – The Perkins Township Police Department have arrested a man in connection to a large counterfeit payroll check cashing ring, and police say that more arrests are expected.

According to police, Rayshon Hunter, 29, of Sandusky, was arrested for his involvement in the producing of counterfeit payroll checks. Hunter’s enterprise, according to police, affected individuals throughout northern Ohio last year.

Hunter allegedly would recruit other individuals to put counterfeit checks in their names and cash them.

Police say that more arrests are expected to be made in connection to these alleged crimes.

Hunter is currently being held in the Erie County Jail. He is charged with criminal simulation, corrupt activity, forgery, and possession of criminal tools. All of the charges are felonies.

Hunter is also being held on a parole hold, due to him being on parole during the period of time these alleged crimes took place.
