17-year-old arrested after allegedly stealing car

SANDUSKY – A 17-year-old Sandusky boy was arrested and charged with a felony Monday morning after he allegedly stole his grandmother’s car.

According to a report from the Sandusky Police Department, the grandmother told police that her grandson took and drove her vehicle without permission. She claimed, according to the report, that he admitted to taking it, after she confronted him. She added, the report states, that front end damage was caused to the vehicle while he was in possession of it.

According to the report, the grandson admitted to police to taking it; however, he said that he was not involved in an accident and did not know how the damage was caused. He was then arrested. While he was being walked from then residence, the report states, he told his grandmother that someone else, whom he didn’t name, took the vehicle, wrecked it, and then returned it.

The 17-year-old was charged with theft of motor vehicle (F4) and was transported to the Erie County Juvenile Justice Center.
