12 injured after plow truck throws debris on turnpike in Erie County

MILAN – At least 12 people were injured after a snow plow truck threw snow and ice debris on the turnpike between State Route 4 and U.S. 250 in Erie County Sunday afternoon.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers discovered the plow truck was westbound and traveling in the inside lane when it caused snow and ice debris to be thrown over the concrete median into the eastbound lanes. At least 40 vehicles were struck by the debris and/or crashed as a result. There were 12 known injuries from the incident, none of which were life-threatening.

Video posted to Reddit shows the plow pushing debris over the median and onto vehicles. After one car is hit, it can been seen going off the side of the road.

The incident remains under investigation. Charges are pending a review of all findings by the Erie County Prosecutor.
