Interim superintendent says Huron City Schools will remain mask optional, may experience delays or closures

HURON – In a email to parents and guardians, Huron City Schools Interim Superintendent John Ruf said that the district will continue to return to normal classes as scheduled.

Ruf also said that the district will continue to not require masks, because “[the district feels] it is up to the parent/guardian to decide if their child should wear a mask or not.” He added that, due to a federal mandate, masks will continue to be required at all times on school transportation.

Ruf added that, while the district will be operating under it’s normal calendar, there is always a risk that, due to staffing shortages caused by COVID-19, the district could experience busing delays, building delays, and possibly even closures.
