Ohio’s minimum wage to increase for 2022

COLUMBUS – Ohio’s minimum wage will increase by 50 cents per hour for non-tipped employees and 25 cents per hour for tipped employees for 2022.

The new minimum wage for non-tipped employees will be $9.30 per hour. It is currently $8.80 per hour.

For non-tipped employees that are under 16 year of age or work at companies that gross less than $342,000, their wages will continue to be set at federal minimum wage, which is $7.25 per hour.

The new minimum wage for tipped employees will be $4.65 per hour not including tips. It is currently $4.40 per hour. For an individual to be considered a tipped employee, they must engage in an occupation which regularly receives more than $30 per month in tips.

The increases go into effect on January 1.
