Man charged with felony after allegedly assaulting step-daughter, wife

HURON – Lucas Ransom, 31, of Huron, was arrested and charged Sunday evening after he allegedly pushed and assaulted his step-daughter and wife and then took their phones.

According to a report from the Huron Police Department, the incident started when Ransom allegedly shoved his step-daughter onto her bed and, as a result, she hit her head on the metal bar that was part of her bed. After she heard her daughter scream, Ransom’s wife then allegedly went upstairs. When she made it to the top of the stairs, Ransom allegedly grabbed her by the face and pushed her down the stairs.

The incident then continued into the living room, where Ransom allegedly stomped on his step-daughter and pushed his wife several times. Ransom then allegedly took the two’s phones and his wife’s car keys.

After the incident, Ransom’s wife then allegedly fled her apartment crying and screaming, which alerted a woman from a nearby apartment. The complainant allegedly spoke to Ransom’s wife, who told her about the incident. She then called 911.

By the time police arrived at the house, Ransom had allegedly fled the screen. Ransom allegedly admitted to police that him and his wife got into an argument and he left to de-escalate the situation. Ransom also allegedly told police that he took the phones, because he just got a new job and did not want any involvement with the police to negatively affect his employment.

Ransom was charged with two counts of Disrupting Public Service (F4), two counts of Domestic Violence (M1) and one count of Unlawful Restraint (M3). He was transported to the Erie County Jail.

Ransom’s step-daughter transported to the emergency room for her injuries.
