Fundraiser created for family of Laurel Cooley

HURON – A fundraiser has been created for the family of Laurel Cooley. Cooley was killed in a traffic crash on Friday morning.

“If anyone knows Laurel, you know she changed your life with just one conversation,” the creator of the fundraiser, Stephine Lane, stated. “I was in a long-term, abusive realtionship and she helped me get strong enough to leave. I could never say enough about her here to fill this page. She may also have corrected my grammer if I went on too much about her or didn’t use commas appropriately. She and her husband helped me move out of my house suddenly in 2019.”

Lane continued writing in the description, “She leaves behind 4 children (Rebecca, Simon, Mason and Ada) and an amazing husband, Lester. She also had a non-profit she started called ‘Everyone’s Mom’ that worked with Huron City Schools. I was a member of the board. I worked in the schools with students with her at the same time and on my own time. She cared for so many that I want to make sure I am doing everything she needs me to do for her family, who is left behind. That is the reason for this fund. I want to make sure things are taken care of while they grieve and learn to live life without her.”

The fundraiser has a goal of $15,000. As of Sunday evening, it has raised $12,970.

The fundraiser can be found on GoFundMe.
