Huron alumni Cody Thompson elevated from Seattle Seahawks practice squad

SEATTLE – Former Huron Tiger Cody Thompson was promoted off of the Seattle Seahawks practice squad for Saturday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Thompson went in for Dee Eskridge, who missed his second straight game due to a concussion. However, Eskridge is expected to return next week.

After Thompson graduated from Huron in 2014, he played collage ball at the University of Toledo. After collage, Thompson was on the practice squads for the Kansas City Chiefs, in 2018, and the Seahawks, in 2019.

Thompson told KIRO Tuesday, “I think I’ve been prepared to play for a while now. I’ve always said you have to stay ready so you don’t have to get ready. That’s a mentality that I always have. I prepare each week like I’m going to play 80 snaps on offense and every snap on special teams. That’s just how you have to do it because you don’t know when you’re going to get those opportunities. I didn’t make many plays on the stat sheet but it was good to get that one under the belt and hopefully get some more opportunities as the year progresses.

The Seahawks ended up losing to the Vikings, 30-17.
