95-year-old woman allegedly stole jewelry from Goodwill

HURON – According to a Huron Police report, a 95-year-old and a 64-year-old woman attempted to steal jewelry from the Huron Goodwill.

On Thursday at 12:59PM, Huron Police were dispatched to a report of shoplifting at Goodwill. When police arrived at the store, an employee told police that the suspects, an elderly woman and her adult daughter, were still inside and that the elderly was observed placing three plastic bags of jewelry inside her purse. When the two women left the store, police spoke to them. The women were identified as a 95-year-old and a 64-year-old. At first, they said that they had taken nothing from the store. Police then said that they had observed the 95-year-old woman on camera taking jewelry and asked to search her purse. The woman agreed. Police found three clear plastic bags containing jewelry in the purse. The 95-year-old woman then claimed that she didn’t know how the jewelry got into the purse.

At the request of the store, no charges were pressed against the women; however, they were permanently banned from Goodwill property.
