Railroad crossings reopenings delayed

HURON – Construction work on multiple railroad crossings in Huron will be taking longer than originally expected, according to the city of Huron.

The Main Street, Rye Beach Road, and Williams Street crossings are expected to reopen on the morning of Saturday, August 21.

The River Road crossing is expected to reopen on Friday, August 20. However, the opening will be short-term as the fresh pavement was damaged by someone bypassing the barricades. The pavement be repaved at a future date.

The city also says that if someone’s mail delivery was affected by the closures, they can to go to the Huron Post Office with an official ID and pick up mail that wasn’t delivered.
