Police Blotter for the week of June 13

HURON – Below is a summary of Huron Police reports from between June 13 to June 19.

On June 13 at 11:12AM, fire and police arrived at Huron Lagoons Marina for a transformer fire.

On June 13 at 7:09PM, police observed a vehicle fail to stop for a stop sign, before turning southbound on Main Street from Cleveland Road West. Police then pulled the car over. The driver’s license was found to be under child support suspension. The driver was cited for Driving Under a Child Support Suspension and warned for the stop sign violation. The car was then released to the passenger.

On June 13 at 11:19PM, police arrived at a Berlin Road house for an unruly juvenile. Police spoke to a woman who said that her son became upset a her, after she told him that it was time to go to sleep and stop playing video games. She also said that her son has some behavioral health issues. Police spoke to the son, who admitted to “being mean” to his mother. He then apologized to her.

On June 14 at 9:05AM, police arrived at a Center Street house for a parking complaint. Police found a vehicle parked in an area where the curb is painted yellow. Police spoke to the people inside the house, who said that, when they rented the Airbnb, they were told they could park there. They then moved the vehicle. Police the called the homeowner to advise her of the complaint and that it would be sent to the zoning department.

On June 14 at 11:02AM, police arrived at a Canterbury Drive for a littering complaint. A man said that he found a chicken foot in his mailbox that morning. Three more neighbors said the same thing.

On June 14 at 3:17PM, police arrived at a Williams Street house for a parking complaint. The vehicle was found to have fictitious registration.

On June 14 at 3:20PM, a man arrived at the police station to report telecommunications harassment. The man said that a 20-year-old man contacted his 15-year-old daughter on a bible app. He said that the man was never sexual or threatening with his daughter; however, he questioned her father and mother’s parenting skills. He said that he also emailed his church and other family members. The man said that he then contacted him on Facebook Messenger. He said that the man refused to quit contacting his daughter, her church, and family members. Police found that the man lived at the Association for Community Living in Beausejour, Manitoba, Canada. The place was found to be a group home for people with intellectual disabilities. Police spoke with the acting executive director for the home. She said that the man was “very low functioning.” She also said that she’d address his access to the internet. Police also spoke with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Beausejour station. They said that they would tell the man to desist these communications.

On June 15 at 5:20PM, police arrived at Wall Street for a vehicle lockout. Police were able to unlock the vehicle.

On June 15 at 8:46PM, a woman contacted police to report issues her son was having with older boys. The woman said that her son had pulled his pants down in front of a group of boys, after one of them told them too. Police then spoke to one of the boy’s father. He was advised of the complaint. He said that his son was playing with friends and that police could speak with him. Police were unable to find him.

On June 16 at 10:45AM, Perkins Township Police reported that they had a man who had a warrant from Huron Municipal Court in custody. The man was later transported to the Erie County Jail.

On June 16 at 11:47AM, a man arrived at the police station for a golf cart inspection. After a $25 fee was paid, police inspected the vehicle. After meeting all of the requirements, the owner was issued a copy of the form and an inspection sticker was placed on the vehicle.

On June 16 at 12:23PM, police arrived at a Middle Avenue house for a dog that was found. Police found the dog owner and transported the dog to her house.

On June 16 at 4:44PM, police arrived at a Berlin Road house for an unruly juvenile. A woman said that her 9-year-old son was angry and attempted to break down the bathroom door, because she told him to take a shower. The woman also said her son has anger issues. Police spoke to the son, who they found under his bed. He admitted to having anger issues. Police told him to start listening to his mother.

On June 16 at 6:29PM, police were flagged down by a man in a Main Street lot. The man said while he was backing into a parking space, he struck a vehicle. The man’s vehicle had no damage, and the vehicle that was hit had minor scratches to the rear bumper plastic. Police were unable to contact that car’s driver.

On June 17 at 12:24PM, police arrived at SR2 for a driving complaint. The complainant reported that the vehicle was driving in the middle of both lanes of traffic. Police found that the vehicle’s owner had multiple suspensions. Police pulled the driver over. They cited him for driving under suspension. After the man was released from the scene, he set off the car’s panic alarm on the key fob, that he refused to give police. Lucky’s Towing later removed the car from scene.

On June 17 at 2:11PM, police arrived at a Bogart Road house for a theft. A man said that someone stole his wallet from his car that night. Inside the wallet was $60 in cash, three credit cards, and one debit card.

On June 17 at 2:12PM, police arrived at a Cleveland Avenue house to file a police report for a civil matter. The house’s property manager said that a cement truck making a delivery to a neighboring house had damaged some asphalt on the property. Police spoke to the neighboring house’s homeowner. He agreed to repair the damage.

On June 17 at 8:47PM, police arrived at a Cleveland Road apartment for a welfare check. A woman said that she hadn’t heard from her mother in eight days. Police found the woman’s mother walking her dog outside. She said that she was having issues with her phone.

On June 18 at 2:03PM, a woman arrived at the police station for a golf cart inspection. After a $25 fee was paid, police inspected the vehicle. After meeting all of the requirements, the owner was issued a copy of the form and an inspection sticker was placed on the vehicle.

On June 18 at 3:45PM, a woman arrived at the police station to report a suspicious person at Lighthouse Nutrition. She said that a man came to the store to say that he purchased the property earlier that year. She also said that he was awkwardly flirting with some of the store clerks. She showed police surveillance video of the man’s truck. They were unable to make out the license plate number.

On June 18 at 5:53PM, police arrived at a Cleveland Road house for an animal complaint. A woman said that a racoon was stuck in between two rocks and was unable to move. Police found the racoon. It’s head was stuck in-between two concrete blocks. Police were unable to free or euthanize it. They told the woman to contact police if it escapes and is unable to move.

On June 18 at 10:28PM, the Erie County Sherriff’s Office reported that they had served a man with a warrant. They said that he was in the Erie County Jail.

On June 19 at 12:00AM, a woman arrived at the police station to report a theft. She said that she believes that when she left work at Wendy’s, she dropped her Apple Watch. She said that when she later looked on the Find My iPhone app, it showed that the watch was in Sandusky. She also said that Sandusky Police said that no one turned anything in. While speaking with police, it was found that the watch might have been stolen from the Norwalk Wendy’s, where she helped close up at, or her car in Perkins Township.

On June 19 at 11:09AM, police arrived at Rye Beach Road for a traffic crash. Police found that vehicle #1 was north bound on Rye Beach Rd approaching the intersection of SR2 west bound off-ramp. The driver of vehicle #1 stated the light was green, and he proceeded to enter the intersection. The driver of vehicle #2 stated when the light turned green, he proceeded to enter the intersection and while making a left turn onto Rye Beach Road was struck by vehicle #1.

On June 19 at 6:40PM, police arrived at a Ridgewood Avenue house to assist the fire department. They said that a man was refusing to go to the hospital. The man had a laceration to the back of his head, that he sustained from falling down a flight of stairs. Police ended up having to strap and hold the man down. He was later transported to Firelands Regional Medical Center. The man admitted to drinking, and police smelt an overwhelming odor of marijuana inside his residence.
