Which Huron government seats on the ballot in November and how to run for them

HURON – On November 2, four city council seats, three school board seats, and two township trustee seats will be up for election. Here are the positions and how you can run for them:

The Huron City Council seats currently held by Sam Artino, Christine Crawford, Joe Dike, and Trey Hardy are up for election. The Huron Board of Education seats currently held by Donna Green, Scott Slocum, and Paul Ward are up for election. The Huron Township Board of Trustees seats currently held by Robert Boos and Edward Enderle are up for election. As of June 12, none of the candidates have announced a reelection campaign; though they still have until August 4, when petitions are due.

For an individual to run for local office, they need a petition with valid signatures and money to pay a filing fee. All this needs to be filed with the Erie County Board of Elections by Wednesday, August 4 at 4:00PM. To run for Huron City Council, an individual needs a minimum of 50 signatures and a maximum of 100 signatures, along with a $45 filing fee. To run for the Huron Board of Education, an individual needs a minimum of 25 signatures and a maximum of 75 signatures, along with a $30 filing fee. To run for the Huron Township Board of Trustees, an individual needs a minimum of 25 signatures and a maximum of 75 signatures, along with a $30 filing fee.
