Local Highway Construction for the Week of May 3

North Central Ohio – Here is a look at construction projects that are anticipated to impact highways in Erie, Huron, Lorain, Ottawa, Sandusky, and Seneca Counties on the week of May 3.

Erie County

State Route 4, just south of Fox Road, will close Monday, May 3 for a culvert replacement. The detour route for northbound motorists will be SR 4 to U.S. 20, west on U.S. 20 to SR 269, north on SR 269 to SR 101, north on SR 101 to SR 2, east on SR 2 to SR 4, and reverse for southbound motorists. The project is expected to be completed on May 7, 2021

Huron County

The U.S. 20 (Cleveland Road) ramp to U.S. 20 westbound will remain closed for pavement repairs. The detour route is U.S. 20 eastbound to SR 601 south, to SR 18 west, to U.S. 20 westbound. This part of the project is expected to be completed on May 10. 

There will also be single lane closures on South Norwalk Road and Ridge Road at the overhead structures above U.S. 20.

The State Route 18 entrance ramp to U.S. 20 westbound closure has been delayed. A date for the closure hasn’t been announced yet.

The U.S. Route 20 resurfacing project is expected to be completed in June.

Lorain County

State Route 58 between SR 162 (New London-Lafayette Road) and Stewart Road will close Monday, May 10 for railroad crossing repairs. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 58 to U.S. 224, west on U.S. 224 to SR 511, north on SR 511 to SR 162, east on SR 162 to SR 58, and reverse for southbound motorists. This part of the project is expected to be completed on May 15.

I-90 eastbound and westbound, at the structures over the railroad tracks, between French Creek Road and SR 611 (Colorado Avenue) will have lane closures for a bridge reconstruction project. Traffic will be maintained with barrels and portable concrete barriers and two 11’ lanes of traffic will be maintained eastbound and westbound. This part of the project is expected to be completed in July 2022.

Ottawa County

State Route 19 between Main Street and Oak Street in Oak Harbor will continue to be closed through May.

State Route 579 between the Wood County line and State Route 2 in Williston will continue to experience lane restrictions for resurfacing. Construction is expected to be completed in June.

Sandusky County

State Route 53 between Schwartz Road and the Ohio Turnpike in Fremont may continue to experience lane restrictions for Turnpike work. Construction is expected to be completed in September.

Seneca County

U.S. Route 23 between Township Road 108 and County Road 18 in Alvada will be closed for bridge repairs, beginning Monday, April 5 through May. Lane restrictions will be announced for resurfacing between Wyandot County and Fostoria. The detour is to go from US 224 to SR 587 to SR 18. Construction is expected to be completed in October.

State Route 19 between TR 184 and CR 6 in Bloomville will continue to be closed for bridge replacement over Silver Creek. The detour is to go from US 224 to SR 4 to SR 103. The project is expected to be completed in May.
