2021 Huron River Fest canceled

HURON – For 30 years, the Huron River Fest has filled the Huron Boat Basin area up with summertime fun during the second weekend in July; however, for a second year in a row, that won’t be the case in 2021.

The Huron River Fest Committee Friday that, after monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic throughout the past year, the group thinks that current COVID-19 restrictions will make it too challenging have the event this year.

“We were really hoping that 2021 would be a year that we could go back to normal and we would be able to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Huron River Fest. Unfortunately, our committee felt that given the restrictions still in effect, it was not feasible for our small volunteer group to be able to adhere to all the restrictions while also providing the caliber of festival that our community has become accustomed to,” stated William Biddlecombe, President of the Huron River Fest Committee.

The committee says they are planning to have the Huron River Feast return back in 2022. The 2022 River Fest will go from July 8 to July 10.

Caylin McCormick, who was named the Huron River Fest co-Queen in 2020, will be the 2022 Huron River Fest Queen. McCormick will to represent the Huron River Fest in other local events. Alaina Parkinson, who was the Huron River Fest Queen in 2019, will continue to receive her scholarship, when she graduates in the Spring. Parkinson also served as Queen in 2020 and continues to serve in 2021.
