56 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed and five new deaths this week in Erie County

Columbus, OH and Sandusky, OH – This week in Erie County, 56 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed. That brings the total number of confirmed cases to 4,541. Five more people died from COVID-19. 191 people have now died from COVID-19 in Erie County. 11 more people were hospitalized from COVID-19. 127 people have now been hospitalized from COVID-19 at Firelands Regional Medical Center. As of Friday, six people are currently being treated at Firelands Regional Medical Center. 142 people are also currently under quarantine or isolation.

Since Thursday in the State of Ohio, 1,085 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed. That brings the total number of confirmed cases to 834,857. 87 people were hospitalized. 50,782 people have now been hospitalized from COVID-19 in Ohio. 69,309 people begun the vaccination process. 1,871,969 people in Ohio or 16.01% of Ohio’s population have now begun the vaccination process. 41,499 people also finished the vaccination process. 1,025,941 people or 8.78% of Ohio’s population have now finished the vaccination process. Since Tuesday, 752 Ohioans died from COVID-19. 428 of the people who died were out of state at the time of their death. 17,502 Ohioans have now died from COVID-19.
