He is a veteran of the Ohio Army National Guard, where he served at Kent State during the 1970 riots. He was, also, a member of the Huron AmVets.

He is survived by his brother Ronald (Darlene) Jensen, sisters, Barb (Lenny) Pack, Linda (Dave Parker) Geretz and his children Laura Jensen-Griffith, Cory and Lucas, Lisa Seifert, Sam, Zoe, Lily and Lona and Scott (Beth) Jensen, Carter and Kennedy.

Rick is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Jean Jensen.
