Charles Ross III

Charles Franklin Ross III (Charlie), 72, of Huron, died suddenly at his home in Huron on February 22, 2021. He was born in Lakewood, Ohio on August 12, 1948.

Charlie graduated from Huron High School in 1967 where he excelled at many sports, especially football. He attended Wilmington College and Moorehead College majoring in Industrial Arts and Physical Education. In 1970 He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he worked as a Minute Man Missiles Electronics Specialist.

Charlie loved Alaska and worked there for over thirty years. He worked at the Shemya Air Force Base for eleven years where he was a foreman over ten employees. He was a swing-shift airfield clearing supervisor at the Elmendorf Air Force Base, worked as a taxi cab driver for fun and as a house parent in a facility for trouble teens. He was also member of the Alaskan Federal Union.

Charlie was a true friend to many and was always willing to help someone out. He was a person of faith whose purpose in life was to help others. He was a true outdoorsman who also loved cars, movies, auctions, karaoke and socializing with friends; most of all he loved all people, especially children.

He was a member of the V.F.W., Eagles, and the American Legion.

He is survived by his siblings, Sandra Drummond, of Hastings, MI, Bonnie Cripe (Keith), of Big Rapids, MI, Pamela Kline (Richard), of Newark, Ohio, and Michael Ross (Karen) of E. Liverpool, Ohio as well as many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Ross and Grace McKinnon.

Charlie will be truly missed by his family and his many, many friends.

A memorial service will be held at a future date.
