City creates feedback line for bike lanes

At the Tuesday, January 12, 2021 Huron City Council meeting, City Manager Matt Lasko announced that a feedback line for the bike lanes and other modifications from the road diet has been created. The number is 419-433-5000 (extension 1105). All feedback will be reviewed by Council and City Administration prior to a final decision by June 1.

Lasko also noted that if approved, more permanent enhancements will be installed to differentiate the bike lanes from the lanes for vehicular traffic.

The City also continues to replace signage along the portion of US-6 that was affected by the layout change from four lane to two lanes and bike lanes. Nearly 90% of the old, incorrect signage has been replaced.

Also at the meeting, Council approved the fee for transient rental registration. The rate will remain at $400 per rental unit and $50 per follow-up inspection.

Lasko also noted the renovation and expansion of the former IAC plant. Ardagh Metal Beverage purchased the plant back in December 2019. The company plans to hire hire 200 employees for the operation. The City is optimistic that additional employees may be added in the future. The Board of Zoning Appeals also approved a variance for new signage on the plant.
