Patrol releases information on fatal crash

SANDUSKY – The Ohio State Highway Patrol has released information regarding a one-vehicle fatal crash that occurred Friday morning on West Strub Road.

According to the Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when a 2005 Ford Explorer, driven by Ricardo Trevino, 66, of Sandusky, was driving southwest on West Strub Road, west of Columbus Avenue. Trevino failed to maintain control of the vehicle, went off the left side of the road, overturned, and struck a fire hydrant.

Trevino was first transported to Firelands Hospital and later to Cleveland Metro Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased days later on Monday. 

The crash remains under investigation.
