Two transported to hospital after car strikes railroad crossing, goes airborne

MILAN – Two individuals were transported to the hospital Monday evening following a single-vehicle crash on Strecker Road.

According to a report from the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred when a 2022 Toyota Corolla was driving eastbound, when it began to lose control. The car struck a railroad crossing, which sent it airborne. The Toyota exited the roadway to the right and rolled over before coming to rest.

The driver, a 20-year-old man, and a passenger, a 17-year-old girl, were transported to Firelands Regional Medical Center by North Central EMS for injuries they sustained in the crash.

Deputies charged the driver with failure to control.
